Brothers and Sisters,

This weekend, Local 1014 joined our brothers and sisters from UFLAC Local 112 and the California Porfessional Firefighters (CPF) to celebrate Firefighter Appreciation Night at Dodger Stadium and kick off Firefighter Appreciation Month!

Thank you to California Pizza Kitchen for helping kick off October's Firefighter Appreciation Month with a $5,000 donation to the California Fire Foundation. California Pizza Kitchen has been a steadfast advocate for California firefighters over the years and has hosted numerous fundraisers for the California Firefighters Foundation.

Formed in 1987 by California Professional Firefighters, the California Fire Foundation’s mandate includes an array of survivor assistance projects and community initiatives including the California Firefighters Memorial, California Firefighters Benevolent Fund, California Firefighters Endowment, the Daniel A. Terry Scholarship program, and the Supplying Aid to Victims of Emergency (SAVE) program brings immediate, which brings short-term relief to survivors of fire or other natural disasters throughout California.

Special thank you to the Los Angeles Dodgers for hosting Firefighters from across LA County!

On Tuesday, October 10th, we look forward to continuing our on-the-road General Membership Meeting schedule with a meeting in Diamond Bar. These meetings are always well attended and bring information and communication to the regions.  This is your opportunity to have a voice, ask questions, and learn what your union is doing for you.

We will speak on all issues important to our membership.  We will have legislative and policy updates, health insurance information, negotiations updates, and a discussion on 48/96 trial proposal.  Please join us, break some bread, and discuss the critical issues affecting our Department and our profession. Light refreshments will be provided. See you there!

As we celebrate the Department’s historic 100th anniversary in 2023, the Yearbook Committee has extended the deadline for Department and retired personnel to purchase a Centennial Yearbook.  A preview of the Centennial Yearbook cover can be found in the attachment. Centennial Yearbooks are available to all personnel to purchase at their own expense on the LA County Fire Foundation Store webpage.

This is a profound benchmark in our history, as we celebrate our legacy in the fire service as we pay tribute to the many generations of team members who have proudly served with honor and bravery and paved the way for the next 100 years in the Department’s history.  behalf of our Department and our members who boldly serve our communities.
