Updated On: Dec 11, 2022

Brothers and Sisters,

This Friday, it is with great sadness that we announce the Active-Duty Death of Brother Arn Tretsven.

Brother Tretsven, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2022. Fire Captain Tretsven faithfully served the Fire Department for 15 years and was last assigned to Fire Station 152 in Covina. Arn was a beloved member of the Department. He will be missed greatly.

We extend our deepest condolences and prayers to his family and friends. Brother Tretsven is survived by his wife and two sons. Together with Management, we have activated the Chaplain, Peer Support, and Memorial Management Teams to assist the family. We will send more information on memorial services as they become available.

RALLY FOR A FAIR CONTRACT AT THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS!!!!
On Tuesday, we had over 150 members and their families join us at the Board of Supervisors for the right to a fair contract. Thank you to our members and their families who showed up to share your stories and demonstrate our solidarity. You made a difference. You ensured that our voice was heard at the highest level. Thank you.

Our members have sacrificed so much during the pandemic in order to seamlessly provide world-class service to millions residents in our incorporated communities and 60 contract cities throughout the County. We have more than earned a fair contract.

Nearly every bargaining unit in  LA County has received the Unions United COLA, including our own Fire Department Association of Chiefs, every unit except the Firefighters and Paramedics who are on the front line. We are simply asking for the same cost of living adjustment as the other County Unions have secured.

No different than fuel, engines, trucks, squads, and helicopters, the men and women who do the work each and every day are the number one tool with the greatest return. We have much to do to get this contract done and we will not accept anything less than a fair contract.  We continue bargaining today and next week, as we keep up the momentum and use all legal avenues available to get what our families deserve.
