601/602 Contract Settled!
Updated On: Jan 17, 2023

Brothers and Sisters,

We are happy to report that today your executive board broke through the barriers to settle our contract and bring home to our members the well-deserved and hard-earned cost of living raises and other pay and benefits items.

The tentative agreement (TA) of our Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) secures three years of COLA 5.5% 7/1/2022 with retroactivity, a signing bonus of 1375 dollars, years two and three at 3.25% each for all three years COLA,  additional comp time days, fringe seniority vacation day banking system - Fit for Life WFI changes to include behavioral health tools and good faith effort mandatory / non-punitive language, establishing a Retiree Medical Trust for our Plan C members providing the tool to provide retiree medical care funding for their spouses, domestic partners and children. We fended off plans for random drug testing, alternative staffing models, grievance procedures and more securing a three year deal protecting all Articles of our amazing MOU.

More in Friday’s Message as our team moves to get this out for membership rectification and courts all Board of Supervisors approval processes to codify our work.

We want to thank the Local 1014 Bargaining Team / Executive Board, including Directors Tony Carcioppolo and Chris Reade as co-chairs, and the hard work put in to write every item and work through all details of proposals and funding to get this done.  Many hours of work especially in the last three weeks including Saturday/Sunday/Monday marathon all out bargaining sessions with the CEO and the FC to secure year three COLA. We also thank you, our membership, for your solidarity and actions to bring pressure to bear as we all worked to get this MOU done in a fair and just contract deal.

We thank the CEO, the BOS and the Interim FC for putting in the hard work to grind it out with our team so that we can all go into the end of 2022, into the Christmas and New Years holiday knowing our families will all be secure and with a contract in hand.

We know this has been hard on all of us. We stuck together and fought hard and “worked to the rule” creating stress and pressure on the Department and Management also while we bargained viciously to get every ounce of what we deserved.  We never give up, we never accept less than what we deserve in a fair contract.

We look forward to the work ahead to join forces with our membership, the Interim Fire Chief, the CEO, the BOS and our City Councils to help our Department find it’s financial feet.  We have much work to do, but the future is getting brighter each day we achieve forward movement.

Local 1014 President Dave Gillotte and Bargaining Committee Chair Tony Carcioppolo at the Board of Supervisors today.

In Solidarity,

President Dave Gillotte and the Local 1014 Executive Board
