Local 1014, in our two-week negotiations break, was in Sacramento lobbying our Firefighter-sponsored bills and also at California Contract Cities alongside Chief Marrone and his staff to address our Contract City organizations with city leaders and city managers all together at an annual conference where conversations can take place to find solutions and common space for our fire and EMS service relationships.
In Sacramento, at the California Professional Firefighters (CPF) Annual Legislative Conference, Fire Union leaders from throughout the state converged on the Capitol to lobby our firefighter issues affecting funding, firefighter safety, Plan C retirement benefits, and crew and aircraft funding for LACoFD.
Your Executive Board landed and hit the ground running, meeting with many LA County Assembly and Senate members and the Governor's office to address the priority legislative issues for our membership and members throughout the state. VIEW THE CPF LEGISLATIVE ISSUES GUIDE HERE.
On another front, we partnered with Chief Marrone and his staff, and as a 40-year sponsor of California Contract Cities, speak to our contract cites elected leaders, including Councilmembers, Mayors, and City Managers, as well as the Board of Supervisors in addressing our issues and services for these important cities.
We discuss emergency preparedness, funding, and auto and mutual aid for the cities we cover in tandem with the unincorporated areas of LA County. It is important we always foster good relations with all of our cities and have conversations with the leaders to ensure we are hitting our mark and, in fact, that the cities are hitting their mark in our relationship to provide Fire and EMS services. |

MOBILE FFL PHYSICAL TRUCKS ARRIVE IN LACOFD
Local 1014 joined the Department to see the unveiling of a pilot program to try mobile facilities to conduct our extensive Wellness Fitness For Life Physical exams. It is critical our members have a thorough and extensive complete physical annually to track blood chemistry, physical achievement, and behavioral health. Our goal is to move to mobile FFL centers so that our members can get their physicals on duty with no interruptions in staffing. Take a look at the new mobile units. More to come as we are dealing with many items pertaining to FFL in bargaining.
