Friday Update 4-11-25
Posted On: May 14, 2025

Brothers and Sisters,

Now more than ever, we must stand united. The County continues to undervalue the lifesaving work we do, and we cannot let that stand. We are on the frontlines every day, responding to emergencies, wildfires, and disasters—yet our voices are being ignored at the bargaining table.

We will not settle for less than what we’ve earned.

That’s why we’re calling on all members to join us—and our fellow public safety partners—in the fight for a fair and just contract. See the important details below. We strongly encourage all available off-duty firefighters and thier families to attend.

Today, we close the message with our Brother Landyn Bailey's (Engineer FS65 “B”) heartfelt plea for help in finding a life-saving kidney donor for his brother Gavyn M. Bailey. Gavyn was born in kidney failure and received a transplant at the age of three.

That gift of life gave him many years of improved health, but unfortunately, his transplanted kidney has failed. He is currently sustaining life through 16 hours of dialysis each day, but this is only a temporary solution. We are searching for a direct donor match.

To qualify, donors must:

  • Have O+ blood type
  • Be under the age of 40
  • Be willing to donate through Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, AZ or UCLA Medical Center Testing through UCLA.

If you or someone you know is willing to be tested as a potential donor, please consider this incredible act of generosity.

On the application, please indicate that you are interested in being a remote donor for Gavyn M. Bailey (DOB: 5/29/98) at Mayo Clinic Phoenix, AZ.

Your selfless gift could offer Gavyn a second chance at life. We are deeply grateful for your support, whether through donation, spreading the word, or keeping Gavyn in your thoughts and prayers. If you have any questions, you can contact Landyn directly at (949) 422-7068.

A GoFundMe has also been set up to help cover medical expenses and provide financial stability. 100% of donations will be going directly to Gavyn.
