It is with the deepest regret and sadness that I am informing you of the Active Duty Death of Fire Captain John Mazzocco, Fire Station 111, B platoon, Battalion 22.  Captain Mazzocco passed away early in the morning of December 12th after battling a job related illness.

The Board of Supervisors, together with Fire Chief Daryl Osby and I, pass along our deepest condolences and sympathy to the entire Mazzocco Family during this incredibly difficult time.

John was a long time resident of Santa Clarita.  He was a strong supporter of the community and was well known and loved by all.  John became a proud member of Local 1014 back in 1986 when he began his LA County FD career and worked most of his career in the Santa Clarita Valley.

John is survived by his wife Lori and his two son’s Matthew and Michael.  The entire executive Board of Local 1014 asks that you join us in keeping John, his family and his fire family in your thoughts and prayers during these trying times.
