UPDATE 2/23/11 - 2100 hours
The LAFD will be providing bus service from Frank Hotchkin Memorial Training Center starting at 0600 from "lot C" (click here for parking map) which is right next to Frank Hotchkin Training Center. You can park in lot C, board a bus that will drop you off at the starting location for the firefighter procession and after the memorial you re-board a bus that will bring you back to Frank Hotchkin Training Center for the reception. The LAFD is recommending this due to lack of parking, traffic and street closures around the location of the events.

Candlelight Vigil:
Thursday, February 24, 2011 - 1830 to 2000 hours (gates open at 1730 hours)
A Candlelight Vigil for Firefighter/Paramedic Allen will take place at Fire Station 78, located at: 4041 Whitsett Avenue, Studio City
Requested Uniform/Attire:
On-Duty Personnel: Work uniform
Off-Duty Personnel: Business Casual
Memorial Service
Friday, February 25, 2011 - 0830 start (check-in 0600 start)
The Firefighter Procession will begin at 0830 hours.
The Procession will start from the South Lawn of City Hall (1st Street & Main Street) and end at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels (A distance of five city blocks). Check-in for personnel will begin at 0600 hours at the intersection of 1st Street & Main Street (please arrive as early as possible prior to start time).
Memorial Church Service:
The Memorial Church service will begin at 0930 hours at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, located at: 555 West Temple Street. At the conclusion of the walking procession, members will be seated within the Cathedral. The service will last approximately two hours.
Fire & Other Emergency Response Agencies:
Memorial Reception: - 1200 hours
The Memorial Reception will begin at approximately 12 Noon at the Frank Hotchkin Memorial Training Center. All Department members and guests are encouraged to attend this Memorial Reception. Food and refreshments will be provided.
Graveside Service: Private, family and invitation only.
Uniforms: Department members shall wear dress uniform for all of the memorial services. Off-duty members are encouraged to wear the dress uniform as well.
UPDATE 2/22/11 - 1014 President Dave Gillotte and LA County Fire Chief Daryl Osby have assigned a small memorial team from 1014 and the Department to assist LAFD and Local 112 with their needs for their memorial event this week.
We have begun to put together a plan for our members to make sure all of our members have information on the events as well as all logisticsfor the events (engines, trucks, parking, transportation, locations, times, etc.).
Check here often over the next few days for up to the minute details. We will be updateing multiple times a day to make sure everyone is informed.
Your Local 1014 Board is saddened to announce the the passing of one of our Brother Firefighters from The United Firefighters of Los Angeles City Local 112.
Los Angeles Firefighter Glenn Allen died Friday afternoon, February 18th, two days after being gravely injured battling a structure fire.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, Brother Allen was performing his duty at a large residential structure fire in the Hollywood Hills early in the morning when the ceiling of the structure partially collapsed. Five other firefighters, including two of our own members from Station 7, were also injured in the collapse. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
Your Local 1014 Board was in contact with the members Station 7 and Local 112 very early the morning of the incident and have continued to offer our support and assistance to, Local 112, LAFD as well as our own department and the members of Station 7.
Brother Allen was in his 36th year of proud service to the citizens of Los Angeles, most recently on "A" Shift at LA Fire Station 97. He is survived by his wife and one daughter, and was looking forward to the birth of his first grandchild. Please keep his family, as well as his firefighting family from Local 112, in your thoughts.
