Local 1014 Supports FCSN GALA Dinner Night!

Reservations are now being accepted for the Firefighter Cancer Support Network (FCSN) “Fight Cancer With Fire” Dinner/Gala, to be held November 10, 2009, during the IAFF Redmond Symposium in Los Angeles, California.
The event begins at 6:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel. Opening ceremonies include a performance by the California Professional Firefighters Pipe and Drums. Rick Chambers, Los Angeles news anchor and television personality on the “Jay Leno Show,” will serve as the emcee. The evening’s entertainment begins with a performance by the Alley Cats, followed by special guest, Comedian Paul Rodriguez.
The FCSN will present the 2009 Spirit of Debbi Wood Award, given to the FCSN member who displays the passion and hard work demonstrated by Debbi Wood as she fought cancer while serving as the first wellness coordinator for the FCSN. The Dallas Jones Memorial Award is presented to a fire service member for promoting cancer awareness and providing assistance to those fighting the many effects of this disease.
In addition, attendees can bid on selected items in the Silent Auction and purchase raffle tickets for an opportunity to win incredible prizes, including a 46-inch HD flat panel television.

The Firefighter Cancer Support Network provides timely assistance to all fire service members and their families in the event of cancer diagnosis. The FCSN also provides awareness to fire service members and their families about the importance of cancer prevention and screening. The FCSN is in collaboration with the American Cancer Society and the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
