Friday Update 5-26-23
Updated On: Jul 10, 2023

Brothers & Sisters,

This weekend, the Local 1014 Executive Board was pleased to attend the 2023 California Contract Cities Association (CCCA) Municipal Conference. In partnership with LACOFD Executive Staff, we come together with our LA County Supervisors and our City Council Members from our 60 contract cities to ensure that the public safety needs of LA County and our 60 contract cities are aligned.

Our LA County Supervisors Kathryn Barger and Lindsey Horvath were in attendance, as well as over 130 City Council members from our 60 LACOFD contracts cities. At the conference, members discussed important topics like collaborating across county lines, building better communities, effectively using technology, workforce retention, and infrastructure.

Engaging with our contract cities is critical to ensure that we continue to have access to the resources our members need to stay safe and provide world-class service to our communities.

This week, as we commemorated Mental Health Awareness Month and engaged in a Behavioral Health Safety Stand Down, Local 1014 was honored to host a special training for members of our Department Peer Team, as well as some, invited members from the US Coast Guard at the Union Hall.

The two-day Applied Suicide Intervention Specialist Training (ASIST) class is a more in-depth training for suicide intervention to assist our LA County Peers with additional training. Our goal is to get all of our Peers through this training to better serve our members! Special thank you to Peer Coordinator Scott Ross for setting up this training for our peers!
