TRADITION MDA FILL THE BOOT!
Los Angeles County Fire Fighters IAFF Local 1014
Supporting MDA for Nearly 60 years
JUNE 6TH (B Shift), 7TH (C Shift), and8TH (A Shift) MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND CLEAR YOUR SCHEDULE
Firefighters have been "filling the boot" for nearly 60 years now to help The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) in their campaign to fight Muscle Disease. A Firefighter and Paramedic tradition started in 1954 by a Boston Firefighter to raise funds for a local family who had a child with MDA, and we’ve never looked back.
We just came off a very successful Board of Supervisors and Fire Department campaign to help with the March of Dimes drive to help Babies and congratulations to all who helped.
MDA, Fire Cancer Support Network, March of Dimes, Spark of Love Toy Drive…all “Traditions of Excellence” and service to our communities. Let’s get ready to clear our drill schedules and clear our mornings from 9am to 1pm on June 6th, 7th and 8th to Fill our Boots and help those in need. Don’t be the station or the Battalion to post zero or not participate this year. We have set a goal of $400,000 dollars, a goal we fell $7,000 short of in previous years. We can do it if we all help and do what we do together, both Off Duty and On Duty as a supplement to help.
Watch for Battalion Coordinators and Executive Board Members along with MDA Representatives to begin Station Visits very soon to coordinate this years’ efforts. Inspire each other to make time, step up and serve others yet once again…a tradition we know very well. Will your battalion be the one this year to bring in the largest donations from the citizens of Los Angeles County?
Thank you advance and watch for more updates on Fill the Boot 2013!
