Agreement Reached For Coalition of County Unions 2006 Fringe Benefits Contract

After four months of often contentious bargaining, followed by two recent long days of non-stop negotiations, the Coalition of County Unions (CCU) has reached a tentative agreement with the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors for a successor Fringe Benefits Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) affecting nearly 30,000 Union members and their families. Local 1014 represented our membership at the table every step of the way, making our priority the increases in health care premiums to reduce any out-of-pocket costs our members may have to deal with. The highlights of the agreement are as follows:

Reduction in proposed Kaiser rate increase from original 15.01% down to 10.06% |

Increase of $10 million dollars (from $82 million to $92 million) |

Use of Sick-Personnel (hours come from Sick time): Increase of 3x 8-hour days for 40-hour personnel, 1 shift (24 hours) for 56-hour personnel. |

Special Dependent Account: Details to be worked out with the county for implementation. |
