Improving Communications
Updated On: Jan 25, 2006
Local 1014 continues to invest in technology and dedicate staff time to improving communications. Our biggest problem is that when times are busiest because of major issues, directors and staff can get swamped with phone calls. During campaigns such as Commerce or Prop. 75 it was not unusual to have as 3-4  hours of phone messages per day to return. Combined with the usual "phone tag" problem, returning calls can be a challenge.

We wanted to publish some helpful tips to the members to best reach directors.

Use e-mail!. on the web site main page under "Officers and Staff" you will find all of our e-mail addresses. Please use them. Local 1014 is finishing up a major upgrading project on our systems to allow for better computer communication, please take advantage of our upgrades.

IF you don't have e-mail: Please call our receptionist at 310-639-1014 and have them send an e-mail for you.

Back it up with Voicemail. While e-mails are great, we are still relying on voicemail for day-to-day messages. When leaving e-mail, please don't just give a station number, we don't always have our directory when we are retireving our calls - Leave a home phone number or a cell phone number as well. Give us some time to return voice-mail.

If its something you want us ALL to know. Then feel free to use the "Contact Us" button from the main web page. Please remember that those messages are first reviewed by staff and then sent to all directors and/or staff. Do not be surprised if all 10 directors answer your question or complaint.

If it is an urgent issue. Please call the Union hall and let the recpetionist know that you need to page a director - They will have the director notified by page and e-mail.

Thank You
