MDA
The 12th Annual Los Angeles County, Local 1014 Fill the Boot raised an incredible $247,489, bringing the twelve year total to $3,681,575. The 3 day “on duty” event held July 9th, 10th, and 11th brought out the brave men and woman of Local 1014 to help kids and adults live longer and grow stronger. Thank you for your time, efforts, and commitment for the MDA families.
Once again, 1014 Vice President, Dave Lopez, coordinated the event with the cooperation andfull support of Chief Osby to ensure a safe and profitable drive, “We want to take care of the MDA families anyway we can. Every year, I am proud of what our men and women accomplish in support of MDA.”
Battalion 8 came in with the most dollars raised at $24,956. Battalion 9 was close behind at $19,729, closely trailed by Battalion 22 with $19,096. Great job, Local 1014.
We would like to recognize and give a special thanks to some of the members and LA County Fire leadership that went above and beyond to help make the Fill the Boot event a success.
Thank you for your dedication and support!

Dependent Eligibility Verification (DEV)
Wednesday July 15th is the last day to submit!
Don't let your dependents get dropped from the plan.
As you know the County of Los Angeles is doing a Dependent Eligibility Verification Audit (DEV). We have told the county we are not opposed to the audit but we are very opposed to the process which includes, but is not limited to, the request for documents by the county (and 3rd party vendor). These documents are not required under the Choices Summary Plan Description to enroll a dependent. A negotiated item.
We are at the point, and have been informing everyone in the last few weeks, that you need to turn the required paperwork in or you run the risk of your dependents being dropped from the plan. This includes medical and dental insurance.
We will deal with the document request after the 15th of July, the deadline for submission.
As a reminder this DOES NOT affect retired personnel as well as those who do not have dependents. If you have not received any paperwork you can call the following number:
