2014 IAFF & CPF Memorials

Local 1014 Executive Board works with our Department, our Honor Guard, Chaplains, and our Fire Chief to honor our fallen each year at the IAFF, CPF and Department Fallen Firefighter memorials. Family First is our motto on honoring and remembering our fallen.

Thank you to our Fire Chief, our Honor Guard, Chaplains and the Emerald Society for coming out to support and participate in the ceremonies, we are proud to sponsor their work.

This year at the CPF Memorial Matthew Mazzocco (Chico State) was one of the recipients of the Daniel A. Terry Scholarship. This award is presented to children of fallen firefighters through the California Fire Foundation.

We are sad to announce that shortly after the IAFF Memorial in Colorado James Chatelain, husband of Janet Chatelain passed away. Jim was with his friends on Sunday the 21st. He was returning from a baseball game in Denver and collapsed in the hotel lobby he was staying in. The last words Jim had to say to us was "THANK YOU". He was very appreciative of everything the Department and 1014 had done for Jan and himself during their time of need.

IAFF Fallen Firefighter Memorial September 20, 2014

September 20th, 2014 the IAFF and Brothers and Sisters from throughout the Nation gather in Colorado Springs, Colorado on Hallowed Ground at the IAFF Fallen Firefighter Memorial to honor those who gave all.

Los Angeles County Fire Firefighters IAFF Local 1014 added 8 names to the wall.

Please take a moment today to "Never Forget" and you can watch the ceremonies via live stream or at iaff.org

Also placed on the IAFF Wall were the 19 members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots that gave the ultimate sacrifice during the Yarnell Hill Fire near Prescott Arizona. Included in those 19 heros is Kevin Woyjeck, son of Joe Wyojeck. Joe, as we all know, is an LA County Fire Captain as well as a the Vice President of the LA County Fire Museum.

During the ceremony as you can see from the photo on the right, there were 19 flags representing Arizona that marched in.  The flags of the IAFF were then presented to a family member of these heros.

These 19 young men gave all for the citizens they protect.  Please keep them in your thoughts.

On Saturday October 11th, the names of three of our fallen Brothers were placed on the California Professional Firefighters Memorial Wall.

This year the California Fire Foundation placed 15 fallen firefighter names on the wall from fire department's throughout California. Fifteen names to many.

Please keep our fallen brothers, and those brothers and sisters who have previously given the ultimate sacrifice for those we protect, in your thoughts and prayers. Always remembered, never forgotten.
