It was a long and uncertain night, but in the end Proposition 75, as well as all of the Governor's proposed initiatives, failed to pass (click here for election results). This is a huge victory for firefighters. With public employees targeted, the Governor was first trying to "soften us up" by taking away our means to fight him, then strip us of our pensions by a June ballot measure. With this stunning defeat of the Govenor's agenda, he has been dealt a serious blow in his efforts to rob us of our employee benefits.

This fight was a true state effort. Across California CPF firefighters are celebrating a hard fought win.

On the County level, Local 1014 firefighters are celebrating a huge effort, the largest in our Local's history. Over 550 Local 1014 firefighters walked precincts and worked phone banks over the last few weeks. We are humbled by your support for Local 1014, and your work as a Local is the talk of the town.

The last 3 weeks we have seen general members doing campaign work that far exceeded what we asked of them. From members spending entire days (off duty) from sun up to sun down walking doors, or attending rallies, or speaking to the public, the effort was fantastic! The last 5 days proved to be a whirlwind of press conferences, rallies and field campaigning for President Dave Gillotte, Director Andy Doyle, Brother Jeff Burke and the entire executive board.

Local 1014 will be sending out an update on the efforts of our members.  We have many people to thank and acknowedge. First we need some sleep.
